A modular dome of Fresnel lenses concentrates sunlight onto a brick/rock thermal receiver. Heat is stored directly in the solid bed and extracted on demand via a pipe loop to drive a turbine.
Why solid-media storage, not molten salt?
Molten nitrate salts degrade above ~600°C and require constant freeze-protection heating below ~220°C. Brick/rock packed beds carry no such ceiling, cost less to build, and unlock the higher turbine-inlet temperatures where sCO₂ pulls ahead of steam.
Our working prototype uses a conventional water-to-steam loop and a small demo turbine to validate the optical and thermal concept end-to-end.
As storage temperature scales toward our 1000°C target, we plan to transition the power block to a supercritical CO₂ (sCO₂) turbine — smaller, more efficient at high temperature, and dry-cooled, removing water dependency entirely.
